Community Cycling Groups

Many people find cycling as a group helps to build confidence, as well as knowledge of the best cycle routes.

We’re lucky in Birmingham to have a great cycling community with lots of groups to get involved in. See below for a list of groups from across the city.

Lets Ride – Guided rides across the city run by community cycling clubs and trained British Cycling ride leaders. Mixed or ladies only rides. Just enter your postcode to find one near you, register, turn up and ride!

Cycling UK Community Cycle Groups – There are a variety of groups across the city who run regular group rides for all abilities. Many of these groups also offer free bike hire, learn to ride sessions, cycling tuition and rides for complete beginners delivered by trained ride leaders/instructors. Other Cycling Groups:

Bike Breakfast Club – A pre work meet up for the everyday cyclist. Every Wednesday morning at various City centre locations. Morning for a cuppa, bike chat & banter with other cycle commuters. A great opportunity to make the commute count! have some fun, meet new people and get tips/advice from other riders.

The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) – Adult and family cycling activities including led rides and tuition at different locations across Birmingham.

Bicycle Adventure Club – Themed events and tours that people can sign up to via the facebook page or website. For people who love adventure and exploring off road. They also have a blog and YouTube channel encouraging people to go on adventures of their own.

Breeze Birmingham (women only rides) – these can be be found on the Lets Ride website or visit the Facebook page for more info.

Bike2Life – Location : Four Oaks Baptist Church.
Led rides, cycling skills and bike maintenance sessions run in partnership with Trikes & Bikes.

Bournville Gentle Cycling – Gentle group rides, offering both short and longer distances. 

Cycle Birmingham – Group social rides on a Wednesday evening from the City Centre and the occasional Sunday rides from Kings Norton Train Station. 

The ride to positivity project – Promoting a positive mindset through cycling and regular group social rides.

For more confident riders wanting to join a group that go a bit further or faster:

Kings Heath Park Cycling Club – Social cycling club that rides out from Kings Heath Park. Road rides, approx 30 miles every Saturday morning. Social rides advertised on Lets Ride, open to all.

Longbridge Cycling Club – Relaxed longer rides at a social pace mainly using quiet roads and country lanes as well as bike touring / camping trips for club members.  

Gear Up CCC – Location: Bromford Drive, Hodge Hill.

Cannon Hill Cycling Club – Club and social road rides as well as women only rides for all abilities. Rides leave from the Tea Room in Cannon Hill Park. Social rides advertised on Lets Ride, open to all.

Gorilla Coffee Cycling Club – Gorilla Coffee Cafe, Kings Heath. Their main rides are for more experienced cyclists heading out on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. Pace of rides ranges from 14-21mph with regular events and challenges running through out the year.

Boldmere Bullets – Sutton Coldfield based group, mainly road rides. Something for all abilities.

Beacon RCC – Based in South Birmingham. Sociable group rides several times a week, the club is also active in time trials, road and track races, on-road and off-road challenge rides. For younger riders they have the Beacon Academy
