Led Bike Ride – Bournville Heritage Open Day

Discover some of South Birmingham’s hidden heritage sites by bike.

We are very excited to invite you on a led ride for  Birmingham Heritage Week. Bournville are holding a very special heritage open day where several heritage sites including St Lazors Serbian  Orthodox Church, Selly Manor and Model Boat House will be open to the public. We will use one of our 69wards routes to visit six sites. This is your chance to discover a bike-friendly cycle route,  explore the idea of traveling by bike and learn about some of Birmingham’s hidden heritage sites along the way.

Saturday 10th September – 10am

 

We will meet at Bournville Train Station, Mary Vale Road Entrance, from 9.45am leaving promptly at 10am. The ride will be approx 11 miles round trip, using cycle paths and green spaces with a few small roads to link up the route. Led by qualified ride leaders, starting/finishing at Bournville Station. We will have a refreshment stop near the end of the ride on Bournville Village green.

This ride is suitable for all the family, participants should have basic bike handling skills, the ability to ride 11miles. The route is mostly off road with a few small quiet road sections.

 

THE ROUTE – Mostly traffic free, taking you through some fantastic green spaces including Merrits Brook and Manor Farm Park. Join us for a fun day exploring Bournville Heritage open day by bike.

As on all our group rides, the pace will be gentle, nobody will get left behind.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. You will need to have your own bike and helmet to take part in the ride or bike hire is available from West Midlands Cycle Hire, dock located next to University train station or a Brompton Bike Hire dock in Birmingham City Centre.
