Refill Birmingham

“If every Brummie refilled a water bottle once a week instead of buying a new single-use plastic one, the city would reduce its waste plastic bottle consumption by 22.3 million a year.”

Refill

Refill is an award-winning national campaign from City to Sea to help people live with less plastic. We are the local champion for the campaign in Birmingham.

The campaign is designed to normalise refill and reuse behaviour and support the infrastructure needed to enable people to access reuse options.

Refill connects people to places they can eat, drink and shop without the pointless packaging. Anyone can download the free Refill app to tap into a global network of places to reduce, reuse and refill. From a coffee on your commute, to drinking water on the go, or even shopping with less plastic, Refill puts the power to go packaging free at your fingertips.

As local champion, we have worked with City to Sea and Severn Trent to sign up more businesses across the city as Refill stations. We have also encouraged the public to sign up for the free app.

At the end of March 2020 there were 274 water Refill Stations across Birmingham, an increase of 59 over 12 months, helping to reduce the city’s impact on the planet.
