World Car Free Day – By Bike

On Thursday 22nd September 2022, cities across the globe will celebrate World Car Free Day encouraging people to give up their cars for a day. The event highlights the numerous benefits of going car-free including reduced air pollution, it helps you stay healthy and creates quieter towns and cities which are safer, enabling people to choose walking and cycling more often.

Birmingham, this World Car Free Day you are invited by ecobirmingham to celebrate by bike! Make the commute count and join us for Bike Breakfast Club at Gorilla Coffee in Brindley Place between 7.15 – 9am. Arriving by bike you will start the day with a smile and qualify for a discount on your morning coffee and pastry… win, win! 

How can you get involved?

Pop by and see us at Bike Breakfast Club anytime between 7.15-9am:

Pre work coffee social, fab morning vibes and bike chat.

Not cycling but would like to explore the idea of travelling by bike? Come along and get all your questions answered by a lovely bunch of people who ride around Brum regularly.

Join a Group Commuter Ride:

This is a great opportunity to meet new people and build your confidence while riding as a group, learn new bike friendly routes and get tips/advice from other riders. Expect a fun, stress free ride into the City Centre as a group, relaxed pace, no body gets left behind. Everyone Welcome!

Group Commuter Rides are happening from various locations across Birmingham including:

  • Bournville
  • Kings Heath
  • Erdington
  • Harborne
  • Shirley
  • Bearwood

Other ways to go car free on Thursday 22nd September: 

• Leave the car at home for short journeys, walk, cycle or scoot instead

• Use public transport where possible

• Organise your own bike ride

• Go for a walk, jog, scoot, run, roller blade or skate
