The Big Give – Fundraising ideas

We are taking part of the Big Give #GreenMatchFund campaign and need your help to reduce the levels of air pollution and traffic in Birmingham. Between Friday 22nd – 29th April join us in fundraising for our Brum By Bike project.

Every £1 you donated will be matched by £1 from the Big Give up to £2,500.

Take a look at some fundraising ideas that we’ve put together to help you get involved:

Fuel free cycle or walk – On your own, as a group or why not get the whole family out (including your furry friends) – not only is this type of fundraising fun, but it’s a memorable and positive experience for all. Weather you decide to decide to swap your short car journeys for active travel, find a new route or challenge yourself to a longer ride/walk – everyone can get involved! Find out more here.

Bake sale – Fancy yourself as the next Bake-off contestant or you know a colleague that would love to showcase some of their own grown produce. Host an office or get your friends together for a bake sale, to help us reach our target.

Office games – If arranging a retro sports day is not your thing then try holding a sweepstake. Get your colleagues to guess your cycle finish time or guess how many sweets are in jar. Asking local businesses to donate a prize for the game is also a great way to get the word out about your fundraising.

Book or clothes recycle – Many people read and everyone wears clothes, so ask colleagues, friends or school parents to take part. Donations can be made even if they don’t want to buy books or clothing from the sale.

Tandem Cycle Challenge – Sunday 24th April the cycling team will be pushing their limits and taking on a 65km tandem challenge. They will be riding tandem using Birmingham’s existing cycle routes, canals and shared paths to help raise funds and awareness for accessible bike friendly routes across Birmingham – Follow their journey on our social media pages @ecobirmingham, show your support and help us get more people cycling by making a donation on our campaign page here.

Donations must be made via the Big Give portal (not our website) between midday 22nd and midday 29th April to count.

All funds raised will go towards our #BrumByBike project delivering cycling activities like tuition, led rides, maintenance workshops and route-finding sessions giving people the confidence to travel by bike. This means less cars on the road, less congestion and cleaner air which is better for the environment and our health.

Whatever you choose to do, be sure to share any photos and videos with us by including @ecobirmingham #BrumByBike in your social media posts.

Thanks for your support and good luck with the fundraising.
