Double your impact this Earth Day!

We’re pleased to announce that ecobirmingham has once again secured match funding as part of The Big Give’s Green Match Fund!

We want to make Birmingham a greener, happier and healthier place to live by improving access to walking and cycling. With your support, we can boost opportunities for residents experiencing health and social inequalities, tackle air pollution and traffic congestion in our city, and help protect our beautiful local nature now and in the future.

Between 20th-27th April, every £1 you donate will be matched by £1 from The Big Give until we reach our target of £2,500! This means whether you fundraise or donate, you can double your impact for Birmingham at no extra cost — £10 becomes £20, £25 becomes £50, and £50 becomes £100.

All money raised will go towards improving Birmingham’s access to active travel and the outdoors, for people and the planet. From community engagement sessions, to led walks and rides, route finding workshops, resources and more – the right tools can make all the difference.

If you would like to fundraise or donate and are able, please remember:

  • Donations must be made via the Big Give portal – not our website
  • Donations must be made between 20th-27th April to be doubled
  • Let us know if you’re fundraising or donating so we can celebrate it on our social media channels @ecobirmingham

To kick things off, we’ve created a brand-new map linking the best walking and cycling routes across all of Birmingham’s 69 wards, highlighting key places along the way. We’ve tested routes, spoke with communities and we’re almost ready to launch! Your support will help deliver events and activities that back Birmingham to get the very most out of this new resource, creating lasting change for our city.

“I’ve been given the opportunity and support to try something which otherwise I wouldn’t have had the confidence or knowledge to do.”

– B

“It’s taken away some of the stresses in my life.”

– A

With more people using active travel, our air will be cleaner, our residents will be healthier and happier, and we’ll be protecting Birmingham’s stunning natural spaces for future generations.

  • In 2022, 78% of participants felt their health and wellbeing had improved as a result of taking part in ecobirmingham’s activities.
  • 80% of children were inspired to explore their local green spaces more.
  • 82% of participants more likely to walk or cycle.

Why not fundraise for us? It’s fun and easy! Just remember to collect donations so they can be donated via the Big Give portal during the time of the campaign. Check out our fundraising guide for tips and ideas, and don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any questions about fundraising, or just to share your plans!
